All right, welcome into breaking balls.

Not a lot has changed with the Red Sox, but I do want to get to something regarding former Red Sox players, one in particular, Mookie Betts of the Los Angeles Dodgers, which we'll get to here in a second. In the last couple of days, there's been a lot written said about the one-year anniversary of the Raphael Devers trade. I'm going to leave that to the people who cover the team.

That one to me is pretty self-evident,

and we've beaten it to death at this point.

Obviously, Raphael Devers has not played well for the Giants.

The Red Sox have lacked offense.

On top of it, the Red Sox got players back in the deal

that they have subsequently traded James Tibbs and

Kyle Harrison in particular, Tibbs to the Dodgers, Harrison to the Milwaukee Brewers,

both of those guys have performed, albeit Tibbs in AAA. But the bottom line is this. The trade

really hasn't worked out for anybody. Has it worked out for the Giants. Hasn't worked out for the Red Sox.

The people that benefited are people that had nothing to do with the deal, the Dodgers and the Brewers, and we'll see what happens with the Dodgers when Tibbs gets to the major leagues. But you want to say that the Red Sox were right to get rid of Raphael Devers? Fine. No problem. I'm not sure anybody would argue that at this point, given the way Devers has produced.

I would also tell you, though, that the Red Sox have done

nothing to replace Devers, and they certainly didn't get anything close to the value they needed

for Devers, either with the money that he allowed them to spend because they got rid of the salary or with the players

they got in return. So to me, all they did was rid themselves of the paychecks that they

had to pay Devers. And that isn't necessarily something that I think that most fans would celebrate.

In the meantime, over the weekend, Moookie Betts made an error late in a game

for the Dodgers against the White Sox. Many of you saw this, many of you didn't. I can't

show you the actual video of the error, but if you go on social media or just Google it,

it will pop up. It's as routine a ground ball as you could possibly get. And here were the stakes.
