Hey, everyone. Our guest today is Reverend Dr. Reed Carlson,

assistant professor of biblical studies at United Lutheran Seminary.

He's active in the church ordained in the Episcopal Church and is married to an ELCA minister.

Reed and I met while he was doing his doctorate at Harvard and was on a Fulbright in Gertigan,

Germany, where I was also working. And we even went on a dig together at Telberna,

which was a lot of fun. He's the author of the book we're discussing today,

Unfamiliar selves in the Hebrew Bible, Possession and Other Spirit Phenomena, published by
