favorites. In this episode, Bernie Staffer, Bianca Marquez, has a conversation with her father who

immigrated from Venezuela about the term socialism, whether we should use it and whether it does more

harm than good. I thought this was a fitting follow-up episode to our episode about Nathan Robinson's new book,

Why You Should Be a Socialist.

So what do you think about the term socialism?

Last week, I indulged in a little experiment.

I asked staff members to cold call their parents

and ask them for their thoughts about socialism.

So if you say, I think democratic socialism to me means that everybody should have a right to a clean environment or a right to an education or a right to health insurance.

I don't have a problem with thinking in terms of those rights, but that I'm afraid

is just one side of the economic problem. The other part of the economic problem is who's going

to provide that. That was Jaime Marquez, father of Bianca Marquez, state email manager for the campaign.

Now, Mr. Marquez and Bianca have had this conversation before, and apparently

it's gotten animated. Do you know that we fight? Yes, I've heard. And at home. I've heard.

And you should feel free to go ahead and do that here as well. Think of this is your living room.
