So this is going to be a little bit of a weird episode because in talking about the 2015 draft obviously we're going to be discussing Carl Hansen and Tony and I both had him number one but in light of the tragic news that his mother is in a medically induced coma and on a ventilator due to coronavirus it didn't really seem right to be publishing something where we're discussing the merits and the merits of his game so this editing might be a little bit clunky here we apologize for that but we did want to get you to the content it

just starting off the podcast in particular with a clinical dissection of Carl Hansen-Tonskym just did not seem appropriate at all right now. Tuesday night, I guess it's Tuesday right it's tough to keep up these days but other than with this podcast so Tuesday night it is we're going to redraft the 2015 draft which is an interesting one in retrospect especially because you remember Danny what the zeitgeist was about that draft like two months in people were going crazy about how awesome it was.

0:59.3

Yeah, something I thought was was interesting about this class not to get you know to get all crazy in the beginning part of this but I thought it was interesting that there were 15 guys that were drafted in 2015 that still have not played a minute in the NBA not that all of them ever will and that is twice as many as the year after 2017 2016 where there are only seven and there are a lot of good players there's a lot of good stuff that we're going to talk about but but when you think about that as just a part of the draft process as we're redrafting it is you know you have to think about that in the beginning of the day and then we're going to talk about that.

1:29.3

And especially that bottom 15 some of those players just are never going to come over so that means you need to squeeze a lot out of that top 45 and undrafted guys some of which did very well in this class.

1:38.6

Yeah, I mean I went down I stopped ranking after 21 because that's really where I got past the point of feeling that we had quality rotation players and there's maybe another 10 who are still in the league that are scraping out here is one of them is actually making $50 million this year amazingly.

1:56.5

But aside from that you've got guys who are kind of just hanging on it seems like and this is now only five years into their career for these players.

2:06.0

We have a pretty good data set on who's in the good there are some players who still have a little bit more potential will get to those.

2:13.9

So here's where we take a quick break summary of this section basically both of us had Carl Anthony Towns number one and now we move to discussing Christophe Przinga who Danny had number two

2:25.1

and I had number three.

2:27.8

I will say this though I didn't put in there I gave a little bit of thought to actually having Christophe Przinga's number one on this.

2:34.2

So did I.

2:34.7

What was your rationale?

2:35.6

Przinga's I still think that he has you know he doesn't have the defense of potential to be like a defensive player the your type guy but I think that he has the he has the ability there to be a reliable positive.

2:45.8

And you know not every system but in the systems that a lot of teams run and offensively he is less capable but you think about what having him on the team.

2:55.0

Has done for Dallas's offense and Przinga's would be like that almost everywhere you know there's some guys that are hard to fit in offensively and

3:02.9

Przinga's to me you know a center who can reliably space the floor was a jump shot that's exceedingly hard to block and even though his post game sucks.

3:10.6

That doesn't matter that much and I think it's in some ways with the right coaching and I think Carl is one of these right coaches.

3:16.0

You can even make a weird argument that it's it's not a positive but that it's less of a negative because when somebody's bad at something they shouldn't do they won't do it.

3:23.0

Yeah I think that you can make the argument that Przinga's fit so well on both ends yeah the defensive rebounding is a little bit of a problem but offensive rebounding isn't a huge weapon for a lot of teams anymore there is the thought that maybe he could get played off the floor defensively by the right team but I don't know if that team exists anymore with the the demise of the warriors or or the heat with Chris Bosch at center.

3:45.4

Yeah I do worry about his lateral mobility but I don't think there are teams that are just gonna stress that out so much and so we talked about how.

3:52.8

On previous episodes these big men who can shoot and protect the room just give you so many options as a defense and an offense that they can fit in a lot of places whereas towns you know yeah I think for most teams you'd probably rather have

4:07.1

Carlisney towns but for really high level teams you might rather have porzingis but that said I porzingis the injury history still worries me yeah and you haven't ever seen him in the playoffs and it's worth noting that this isn't the same as a as a
