0:18.8	It will surprise absolutely no one to learn that I'm a bit of a Star Wars nerd. What can I say? I'm a sucker for a space opera.
0:21.6	And that means I'm very aware that the latest trilogy, you know the one that
0:24.7	follows Ray and Finn and Kylo Wren, it's been very polarizing amongst fans. Don't worry, I'm not
0:30.5	here to lay out a case for or against the latest Star Wars trilogy.
0:34.6	Instead I want to talk about the story's setup because I think its setup is relevant to the
0:39.5	story of your life.
0:41.5	At the end of the original trilogy Luke Skywalker, Princess Leah, and Han Solo finally
0:46.3	defeat the evil empire. And it seems like the only feasible ending is happily ever after.
0:52.2	And that's exactly what happened, at least initially. We learned
0:55.5	that after they defeated the empire Luke started a school for Jedi and he
0:59.9	taught young people the way of the force, but then something dark happened.
1:04.2	And Luke couldn't forgive himself.
1:06.2	So he stopped teaching the force.
1:07.9	He disappeared.
1:08.6	He stopped practicing the force.
1:10.5	And slowly the galaxy fell under the sway of new tyrants.
1:14.0	Ray's job in the first movie is to find Luke
1:17.0	and once again reclaim the way of the force.
