Welcome back to another episode of The Beat and today I think we're going to talk about

0:16.2

your actual garden redesign which I'm actually very excited for it because you've thought a lot

0:20.5

about it.

0:21.5

This time. Yeah very hyped. This time I've actually planned it out. Well no I just did an episode on Epic Home Setting about how I'm basically redesigning the whole backyard garden. Obviously the fixed structures that shed the coop, the greenhouse, the pond, those aren't really moving.

0:35.2

But I think the big mistake I made, and I wouldn't even say it's like some critical error,

0:39.8

because I couldn't have known where some of that stuff was going to be.

0:42.2

I never knew a greenhouse was coming, I never knew a greenhouse was coming I never knew that's right

0:44.3

Was coming yeah, those were all kind of not planned it was all new stuff but I've been studying true classic landscape or garden design lately just sort of for fun and I just realized I've never really clearly defined pathways in my garden actively and then like when you think about about a river tributary,

1:02.8

you got like the main river, then the offshoot sort of streams,

1:05.2

and then it goes into little trickles and stuff.

1:07.1

Kind of the same, like I have my hardscape backyard, right?

1:10.4

That's the river.

1:11.2

That's the river, like the pavers. Then I'm going to do like a flagstone, a properly laid,

1:15.7

graded flagstone path to the shed, to the chicken coop, to the compost because I'm treading that all the time,

1:22.0

right? So like it's never never gonna be anything but a path,

1:25.1

so I know I can safely put a path there.

1:27.4

And then as you trickle into the actual garden,

1:30.8

that becomes a mulch path or a dirt path or like little pebbles or something

1:35.8

that's something defined something defined but easy to move if I want to

1:40.1

redesign the garden so that's the first thing I'm. That's going to be cool and I know that the other thing is that this year with the

1:47.1

backyard you kind of ended up with a big bed and then a couple bigger beds like or not bigger but also two long beds behind it.

1:54.6

Yeah. I know that you've been wanting to do this kind of nice break-up layout there like

...
