I'm Lee Camp.

Tonight we talk with journalist, author, activist, and politician Eugene Perier.

He's a young man who's done a whole hell of a lot, and it kind of makes me feel

pathetically unaccomplished.

He's had radio shows, written impressive articles, journalism, been a candidate for the

at-large seat in the D.C. Council with the D.C. statehood Green Party.

Two times he's been the vice presidential candidate for the party for socialism and liberation.

Why do you think you're allowed to run with the socialism and liberation party?

I think perhaps I was confused.

I didn't do great in civics in seventh grade.

Wasn't 100% clear on what this democracy thing was.

I thought it meant that people should choose the type of politics that
