Summary

John Hinderaker guest hosts for Dennis… States are sorting themselves into red and blue. But migration pattern is clear: blue to red. Minnesota is known as a paragon of a blue state that works. But John, who lives in Minnesota, knows better… John talks to John Phelan, Minnesota based economist. People are living the state in droves.  John talks to Heather Mac Donald, senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute. Her new book is When Race Trumps Merit: How the Pursuit of Equity Sacrifices Excellence, Destroys Beauty, and Threatens Lives.  John is joined by former NCAA Kentucky swimmer Riley Gaines.  She has called on famous female athletes to choose a side in trans debate.  She discusses being assaulted at a San Francisco event, tying transgender swimmer Lia Thomas for fifth in the women’s 200-meter NCAA championships - ‘I Left There With No Trophy,’ urging female athletes to boycott competing against trans girls - 'Don’t run ... don’t swim,' and the rewriting of Title 9.

And some of you might not be aware of it, but in addition to writing for Powerline,

I am the president of Center of the American Experiment, which is the conservative policy

organization, or the only policy organization based in Minnesota. An American experiment

is having its annual dinner tonight. This is our big annual fundraiser. It's the biggest

0:57.1

conservative event every year in the state of Minnesota. And Dennis Prager is going to be our

1:03.0

keynote speaker in our annual dinner tonight. So while Dennis is jetting across America to get

to Minnesota for our event, I am sitting in for him on the radio, and I'll be with Dennis

I want to start the show today talking about one of the phenomena that we're all aware of.

1:31.3

And that's one of the really important things going on today in the United States,

1:35.1

not just in our political life, but really in every aspect of America's life. And that is the

1:42.4

ongoing sorting of states into red states and blue states. It seems as if the red states are

1:52.0

getting redder. The blue states are getting bluer, and there are fewer purple states all the time.

1:58.8

There used to be a number of states where legislatures would be split. The House might be

2:03.8

Republican, the Senate, Democrat, or whatever, or you'd have a legislature of one party in the

2:10.1

governor of a different party. That's becoming less common all the time. And in fact, my home state

2:15.1

of Minnesota was the last state that had a split legislature. We had a Democratic House and a
