Stephen Mats is coming.

The former Met, coming here now as the Red Sox bolster the bullpen,

get a guy who's really good against lefties.

Yeah, it's interesting because Matt kind of falls into the same category in some ways as a Justin Wilson,

although he does offer the benefit of being someone who can pitch for

multiple innings. So being able to go up to five outs and throw a ton of strikes, that's

interesting to the team. And it gives them a little bit more depth in an area where they didn't

necessarily have a ton, right? All of the lefties that they have, really, who you would,

who they would want to consider for

Major League help are already on the big league roster.

And so now they're in a position where they can option either Chris Murphy or send

Brennan Bernardino down.

And then you have a little bit of a security blanket.

But this isn't exactly the needle moving move that I think a lot of people were expecting,

where the primary,

when you're thinking about raising the ceiling in order to compete for the championship,

Stephen Matts is a nice complimentary piece.

He's not necessarily the guy who you would identify as the lead target for the Red Sox to get better
