It's been a lot of conversation about the trading deadline coming up here in a matter of weeks.

August 3rd is the trading deadline this year for Major League Baseball.

And we actually played a cut this week on Felger and Mazz and on the baseball hour

about the kind of guys that Red Sox should be looking at a deal here as the deadline approaches.

And let me just issue an asterisk here at the very beginning.

If something somehow dramatically changes, then obviously we'll readjust. Right now, they look like sellers.

And the conversation is, who are you going to get rid of? The name of Wilson Contreras came up.

And let me tell you, I would not trade Wilson Contreras. Let me start right there.

There is a discussion to be had here about what the Red Sox should be looking to do.

And for those people who are thinking about a rebuild, trade every veteran, I disagree with you.

I don't think the Red Sox should be trading to completely rebuild again. I think what the Red Sox should be looking to do is to alter their roster so that next year

they can pick up where they left off at the end of 2025.

Some of the young guys on this team have talent and they need to be nurtured and put in positions

where there's not as much pressure on them to perform.

And I mean that as not as much of a need on them to perform so they can make their mistakes and the team won't suffer in the process.

So as it relates to Wilson Contreras, and we've talked a lot about this lately, Wilson Contreras has been statistically, based on OPS, the best right-handed hitter in all of baseball in 2026.

That was as of a couple of days ago.

Now, do I think he's better than someone like Aaron Judge?

No, who would?

But the point being, they've gotten tremendous production out of Wilson Cont? No, who would? But the point being they've gotten tremendous

production out of Wilson Contreras, given what they gave up and what the expectations were.
