This week we're going to be talking about kind of a darker topic, but one that Denise and

I feel is really important to kind of highlight and make note of and get out there.

It's called the dark empath. And this is a new term for me. Is it new for you, Denise?

It is, and I think there's a fine line between some of our

understandings of narcissism and some of the things we're going to talk about today.

Yeah, definitely a fine line. So all of this basically started because of new research that has come out of the UK.

They were looking at the Dark Triad,

which I had not really thought of this way,

but apparently it's very common for people

in the psychology community.

The Dark Triad is comprised of narcissism,

which as you guys know is people who have an exaggerated sense

of entitlement, superiority, or grandiosity,

Machavellianism, which is exploitation

and manipulation of others, and psychopathy,

which is cynicism, callousness, and thrill seeking.

Now all these personality types have the same thing in common.

They're high in dark traits and they're low in empathy. But this new research done in

the UK is revealing that some people can have empathy and one of these personality disorders.

And that's what's called the dark empath.

Not only are they high in dark traits, but they're also high in empathy.
