Summary

Carl and Todd welcome Yannick Imbert and Iain Wright to discuss their new book, Reclaiming the Dark Ages: How the Gospel Light Shone from 500 to 1500. An often overlooked period, Yannick and Iain challenge the notion of the "Dark Ages" by highlighting key Christian figures and their contributions to church history including Leo the Great, Anselm of Canterbury, and Jan Hus.  We wanted to take a selection of church leaders across that thousand years...to show that God was not sitting on his hands for a thousand years. – Iain Wright Discover how God’s work continued throughout this millennium and why these historical insights are relevant today. Whether you're a history enthusiast or new to church history, this episode offers a captivating exploration of faith across centuries. Even we who are decidedly Reformed can actually acknowledge that there were Christians prior to the 16th century. – Carl Trueman Thanks to the generosity of Christian Focus Publications, we are pleased to offer three copies of Yannick and Iain’s book to our listeners. There's wonderful things and there's challenging things. There's good things and there's

1:29.6

sad things. It's just life in the in the church. But God's been very kind to us and we have a

1:37.4

wonderful congregation. And we're in the midst of a campaign to build more space onto our current church house, and so that's taxing but exciting.

1:53.2

Excellent.

1:54.2

Yeah, and the Shenandoah Valley is still beautiful, and so I would just encourage our listeners to take time to drive up the I-81

corridor and drop in and see us sometime. It's a great place. We'll be nice to you, even.

2:08.9

You might. Well, of course, I visited, but I seem to remember the first time I visited,

2:12.8

you wouldn't even let me in your house. That was my last day. I drove all that way.

2:16.9

And you wouldn't even let me in the house. Yeah was my last day. All that way. And you wouldn't even let me in the

2:18.2

house. Yeah. My wife does not trust Europeans. And so, you know, it was just, it was just a non-starter,

2:25.8

you know. Well, talking of Europeans, you're actually pretty heavily outnumbered today. I know.

2:31.6

I feel like I'm, I'm feeling a little oppressed already.

2:36.3
