Summary

For the last century, the ATF and its departmental predecessors have been given increasingly oppressive laws to enforce, and as you have learned in our series on ATF history, they have done so in increasingly heavy-handed ways. However, we should also look at some more recent cases This vide was posted on YouTube, but podcast listeners have asked for this content in a more listener-friendly platform, so here it is.

A few months ago, we posted four videos on the history of the ATF.

This is not a history of the ATF video, even though we do plan on making more history of the ATF videos to have five or six in the trilogy.

But this is not that. This is the case files of the ATF. We're not looking at ancient history. We're looking at very recent examples of what the ATF videos, we talked about things that had happened in the past, misuses

of authority from the 70s, the 80s, the 90s, particularly, of course, the obvious ones that you would think of, Ruby Ridge and Waco.

But we did mention some slightly more recent stuff, specifically the investigation of Brian Malinowski.

There was a long investigation, and of course, that ended with a raid on his house in the early hours.

Now, I'm going to mention this case first because there's been some movement on it.

Just to refresh your memory, he was the director of an airport in Little Rock,

Arkansas, the Bill and Hillary Clinton Airport. So this is a pretty highly paid position,

and he works almost exclusively inside of very highly secured areas. But firearms were one of his

hobbies, collecting firearms, going to gun shows, things like that.

And so the ATF investigated him for a very long time.

Now again, this is a guy who works at an airport.

This is a guy who has an authority position and is very easy to talk to and very easy to approach,

to ask any questions that they might have about

anything that he has purchased or owns in his house. But that is not what the ATF decided to do.

They decided to kick in his door in the early morning with no body cameras running and turning

off his power and his Wi-Fi and taping over his battery-operated security

camera on his front door. Well, nobody knows what happens because all the cameras were off,

but when the dust settled, he was dead shot by the agents. Now, the new wrinkle in the case

is that his wife is suing the ATF.

And some people have pointed out that some of the alleged crimes that Brian Melanowski was
