It's the return of the remake this week on the horror movie podcast for the casually obsessed. Join your horror hosts Kim & Jon for a trip back in time to the early 2000s when major studios and horror movie producers began remaking some of horror's most celebrated classics for a new generation. Matthijs van Heijningen Jr's The Thing brought us back to the cold, creeping dread of the arctic tundra for one of the most controversial, and confusing remakes of the era.
We've got a soft spot for the early 2000s remakes but re-shoots, re-writes, and a heart-breaking decision to replace practical effects with CGI in post has made The Thing a hard movie to love. Unless of course you wanna see Mary Elizabeth Winstead kill an alien monster with a flamethrower or get up close look at The Thing in a super gory autopsy sequence. And why wouldn't you!? Join usss...
