Born Rebecca Jean small bone, the singer, futurely known as Rebecca St. James, got her start and this is true at age 12 opening for Carmen on his Australian tour.

She soon released an independent album Refresh My Heart at age 13 in 1991.

Her self-titled major label debut would follow in 94 and she then continued to evolve as you would imagine a Christian pop artist would plus her minus a few big flannel shirts.

But while her vocal, solemn musical arrangements in the 90s would share much DNA with the last more Zets, Rebecca went on record in an unusually defensive sounding interview to say,

I don't listen to secular radio. I don't touch that stuff. I would never in a million years by in a last more Zets song except if I was passing through a room when someone else was listening to it.

This almost impressive opting out of pop culture would come to a head on her 2000 album Transform, which featured the unofficial true love wait anthem, Wait For Me, an O-tapurity in the form of a letter to Rebecca's hypothetical future husband.

On the subject, Rebecca said, the idea for this song came from letters I have written to my future husband that I will one day give him.

I've seen it not just to give him but on behalf of young women today, encouraging the future husbands of our generation to say sexually pure, to wait for us.
