What's up everybody? Welcome into the next patch podcast. I'm Phil Perry coming at you from Radio Row in San Francisco ahead of Super Bowl 60. What an episode we have lined up for you today. We're going to hear from Drake May. We're

going to hear from Mike Vrable. We're going to hear from our buddy, Devin McCordy. We're going to hear from Mike Mayock. And we're going to hear from Diana Rossini from the athletic. But before we get to any of them, we have to talk about these two quarterbacks, Drake May and Sam Darnold, because let's be honest. The team that wins Super Bowl 60 will in large part be driven by their quarterback.

And both of these players, let's be honest, their performances in this game are relatively unpredictable.

Drake May, incredibly young, just his second season, having all kinds of success in the regular season,

but in the playoffs,

been a little bit different story. Sam Darnold has had a roller coaster career.

Tremendous numbers in the regular season, tremendous NFC championship game.

He's also the guy who led the NFL in turnovers in 2025.

So which quarterback makes fewer mistakes?

Which quarterback makes the game changing play? And is there a blueprint for either of these passers?

How about for Drake May in particular?

Do the Seahawks have the plan that will thwart New England's offense and shut them down at Levi's Stadium?

Cover six has been the talk of the town for all you football nerds out there, and if you're watching or you're listening to us right now, yes, you are. You are a football nerd. Cover six, we know. Quarter, quarter half. Four defensive backs, deep, too high safety shell. And on one side of the field, you have cornerbacks splitting the field into fourths, zone coverage.

It might look like, man, depending on how the routes play out.

On the other side of the field, you have a safety taking half the field and a corner playing in the

flat.

That looks a lot like cover two.

It can be a relatively difficult coverage for quarterbacks to decipher, especially young ones. And it's been a difficult

process for Drake May to figure out what to do when he sees cover six. Go all the way back to that

Bill's game. Second matchup at Gillette Stadium, second half of that matchup. Drake May and the Patriots

offense was shut down. Why? In part because Buffalo ratcheted up their use of cover
