Welcome back to gathering with Gibb.

0:07.8

I'm your host, Gibson Johns.

0:09.3

And today on the show, we are chatting with bestselling author Elizabeth Day, who also

0:13.3

hosts the podcast, How to Fail.

0:15.5

Her book, One of Us, a novel, is coming out on February 24th in the U.S.

0:20.0

via Harper Collins. It was released back in

0:22.5

September in the UK, uh, where she is from. But Elizabeth and I met at BravoCon in November.

0:28.6

We met backstage through some of the team at Hey You and we instantly hit it off. And so when it came

0:35.1

time for her to do some press for the US release of. release of one of us, I was thrilled to get her booked on the pod.

0:42.8

She's a big deal over in the UK, and it's been really fun to connect with her.

0:46.9

And she is a huge Bravo fan.

0:49.5

And so we had a really kind of wide-ranging conversation about our time at BravoCon, about housewives in general, about some of the bravo liberties that she's had in her podcast.

0:58.5

And she's just such a smart, articulate person. And talking to somebody like her about housewives

1:04.8

and seeing how sort of equally passionate she is about thevo world felt really validating in a lot of ways

1:13.8

you know and i feel like for you guys to listen to our conversation i hope that it was that it will

1:17.9

also feel validating for you i mean it i guess it scratches a similar itch to when you find out

1:23.1

that a big celebrity is also a big bravo-holic. There's just something about it that hits.

1:28.4

And talking to Elizabeth about Bravo just felt really good. And it was really fun. And she made some

1:32.2

really, I thought, really astute, big observations about housewives, why we like housewives.

1:39.8

And also her personal connection to it. I think her, towards the beginning of our conversation,

1:44.1

she speaks to, you know, how she first discovered housewives. And it's a pretty profound answer. And I think that you, again, it's a reminder that, yeah, Bravo is escapism and Bravo is fun. And it's, bravo's our sports, as I always say. But it can also mean a lot of people in a deeper way and I think for Elizabeth too have discovered it in the way that she did is what was really special to hear about so anyway I think you guys will really appreciate this conversation we do touch on some more current stuff like Salt Lake City and Botomac I think we recorded this like a week and a half ago so it's not about the most recent episodes of all those shows but it's a pretty up-to-date conversation. And also her book, One of Us, I've read it from front to back, and it is a really great novel. It's told from a bunch of different perspectives, and it does touch on some similar themes to Housewives that we like, and I think that the characters are really rich and I mean both monetarily and just the way that she was able to sort of capture them. And if you're looking for another great novel to read, one of us might just be the one you're looking for. So that is out February 24th, wherever you get your book. It's available for pre-order now and take my word for it. It's a really, it's a great book. So keep listening for my chat with Elizabeth
