Hello and welcome to Reason Verses. Thank you all so much for coming. It's great to see all of you here.

Special thanks to our federal workers. I know it's a busy week for you. All right. So Reason Versus is a debate series that pits Reason Magazine against other publications in a battle of big ideas.

For this installment, Reason is taking on National Review. I'm Peter Souterman. I'm going to be

your moderator. I'm going to start with a full disclosure here. I do work at Reason. But many

years ago, I did work for National Review, and I have written more than a few pieces for them over the years.

So my job tonight will be to try to be fair and neutral and make sure nobody steps too far over the line or crosses the border of good faith argument.

Which is probably appropriate in this debate because this evening, our two sides will be debating the resolution.

Mass immigration is good for America.

Now, because this is a debate, there will be a winner.

And that winner will be decided by you, the audience.

The way this is going to work is that there are going to be two votes.

You're going to vote right now. That is, if you haven't already, and then you are going to vote again after the debate.

And the team that has shifted the most support to their side is the team that will win.

It just states that a large number of immigrants would be good for the nation.
