The Real World Boston’s Syrus Yarbrough steps Behind The Rope. Checking in from his home in Cali, where he is currently running his booming Clothing Company, “Black Designer Clothing”, Syrus is here to discuss it all. We start at the beginning. Syrus tells us how he got cast on The Real World Boston as a result of a job interview gone horribly wrong. Being no stranger to the cameras, he was a semi-regular on Baywatch, yes we discuss Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff, Syrus said yes to the opportunity and soon found himself living in a converted firehouse in Boston with 7 strangers to find out what happens when they stopped being polite and started getting real. Real is exactly what Syrus got with roommates Genesis, Kameelah, Montana, Elka, Jason and Sean, which we discuss, as well as the status of those “friendships” today. Syrus discusses what filming was like with MTV back in the day when there were basically no other reality shows to compare it with and just how “real” The Real World MTV was. Syrus also opens up about his bad boy “playa” image that was projected on TV and discusses just how true to reality that image was and / or is. When the show ended, Syrus ended up playing a huge part in the success of MTV’s “The Challenge” which he discusses, as well as what life was like, in general, after the show ended. We dive deep in to what it is like being in The Real World/The Challenge “family”, the good, the bad, the other. Being a fan of reality TV himself, Syrus enlightens us on what some of his favorite current shows are as well as his surprise ties to Bravo with several fellow Real World alumni. Last, but certainly not least, Syrus tells us about a run in at the MTV Video awards with not only JLO, but backstage with Queen Madonna. Cyrus spares no detail.
