Friends, how do we read the signs of the times?

Vatican II famously told us to do that. All of us are called upon to read what's happening.

But how? How do we read what's going on in the world?

Well, there are many different interpretive guides.

We can read the signs of the times politically. Indeed, much history is written precisely that way.

We look at what the great kings and presidents and prime ministers have done or what they're doing and why.

That's a political reading of the signs of the times or we can read it sociologically.
