Max Cohen, and this week I'm joined by Sammy Handler, portal author and all-around policy

expert for Punchball News to discuss what was a very late night in the House of Representatives

on Wednesday.

Sammy, why were we here almost until 11 p.m. on Wednesday night?

I don't know, Max. It was so, it was so, so late.

But we were here because a bunch of farm state Republicans were demanding a vote on E15, which has been a big issue for these Republicans.

But of course, oil state lawmakers were against that.

And they were demanding this vote, which was then delaying the budget resolution that

the House was voting on. They were withholding their votes. It was very

dramatic. They were, you know, first in a room off the, off the House floor, the Speaker

ceremonial room, then moved to the Speaker's office. There's a group of, I want to say,

about 20 lawmakers going in and out in this meeting. And, you know, they withheld their votes until they got what they

wanted until there was a commitment from leadership to hold a vote in a few weeks from now, which

is a story we've heard before, of course. But yeah, it was a late night. And, you know, I think this hasn't fully been resolved.

We'll see if there actually is a vote.

So we'll see.

and why it caused such an issue, can you kind of walk us through what this program does and why farm state Republicans love it, but oil state Republicans hate it?

So it's this ethanol-based fuel, which is obviously then a big issue for these farm state Republicans, you know, ethanol

made from corn, of course, other things as well, but corn is the main thing people think of.
