tend to share their deepest secrets and their most intimate feelings with each

other. This according to Nobie Way, a professor of development psychology who's interviewed

hundreds of boys for her 2013 book, Deep Secrets, Boys Friendships, and the crisis of connection.

But as boys begin to enter adolescence at age 15 or 16,

quote, you start to hear them shut down and not care anymore.

They start to act defensive about their friendships saying they're, quote, not gay,

and they're just not as close anymore.

Quote, you hear expectations of manhood get imposed on them.
