This is the warning.

There are 725 days until the midterm elections and 1,460 until the next election night.

On that night, it will be highly probable that J.D. Vance is the Republican nominee for president. It's a long ways away and impossible to know

who will be the Democratic standard bearer. But that doesn't matter. What matters is that on that

day, just like this Tuesday, there will be suspense, there will be dread, there will be an outcome,

and then the sun will rise in the morning over America. The result that was achieved by Donald

Trump is one that should impose humility on all of his opponents, especially those cable news

mandarin who don't understand it, can't comprehend it, and don't wish to communicate at all

with reality when the embrace of reality is required to be ready 1,460 days from now.

And the Democratic Party is going to need every hour of those 1,460 days to be ready.

Now, Donald Trump has remade American politics. He is the dominant political

figure of the 21st century, and he has built a rainbow coalition of white, black, Latino,

and working class young men. The gender divide in the country is extraordinary.

He campaigned on a message of venom, fear, malice, jingoism, nativism, nationalism, and he succeeded.

The world has changed a great deal, technology, gay marriage,

the pace, the velocity, the interconnectivity of modern life. What the American people said

was stop, and the person they chose to stop progress is an American extremist, a reactionary,

a man that half the country recognizes as mentally unfit, spiritually unfit, emotionally unfit,

for high office. Yet, a clear majority by popular vote, by electoral vote,

has given him power, and along with it, a Republican Senate, and most likely a Republican House.

This does not make Donald Trump a dictator or a king or an emperor not for a day, not for a minute,
