According to the Recovery Elevator sobriety tracker tracker on my phone, I have been sober for 21 months and two days.

On today's podcast, I've got Stephen Gerard.

He got sober at age 22, and he's been sober for 32 years. Wow. I often get asked, what about the

courageous and brave interviewees on this podcast? Do they stay sober? Are they

cured? Whatever happens to them? They came on the

podcast. They created accountability. They helped themselves. They helped

listeners. Hell, they helped me stay sober. They're probably sober, right?

Well, I often wonder this. I was at my

brother's wedding this last weekend, which I'll talk about at the end of this

podcast episode, but somebody asked me about the guests on the podcast and they

asked how many of them are still sober and I looked at

him and I said I don't know probably the majority of them that's a great question I fully

understand the deck is stacked against us not only are we dealing with something incredibly

lethal the drug called alcohol we're also dealing with something potentially

more lethal. In my case it definitely was that is the stigma. I also get asked what is recovery elevator and

if I could summarize that in a sentence it's we offer hope through community and connection

partnering sobriety-seeking individuals with other like-minded people.
