Summary

We’re wrapping up our series on re-learning things as an adult! Part 1 covered relationships, part 2 was physical health, part 3 was work, and for this last one? We’re tackling education.

Not the educational system, nor our kids’ academics — we’re referring to our own self-education, whether it’s about the practical things we’ve come to learn are important (personal finance) or how to keep your brain engaged, even when life is busy (puzzles).

Come along for the ride!

Hi, I'm Tishawkson Writer. And I'm Aaron Lachner. And on this show, we break down big ideas.

0:11.5

In this episode, we are wrapping up our series on re-learning things as an adult.

0:15.8

Before you begin, just a quick announcement, I want you to join us at Patreon. That's at patreon.com slash

0:23.5

tish. You can join at either the three or seven dollar a month level. If you love what we're doing

0:27.7

here at Simple Show, then I think you would really love what we're doing back there. Right now,

0:33.2

we are talking about a series I'm putting out just for patrons only called the world at home

0:38.6

where we're talking about different things to watch, read, listen, or do to expand our

0:44.3

worldviews and bring the world into our home without the cost of a plane ticket. And so we'll talk

0:49.5

about one time it might be some link to a show you can stream online. Another time it might be a really great short book to check out at the library or just different things we can do.

1:01.0

And then we'll talk about it in the group and encourage each other to both learn these things and get some takeaways and also pass them on to our kids so that we can become, you know, people that pass on the greatness

1:12.2

and the diversity of the world to the next generation. So again, that's patreon.com slash tish.

1:19.1

Okay, Aaron, we are wrapping up our chat about relearning things as an adult. And this one,

1:24.8

I feel like is kind of the cherry on top because we're actually talking about learning. So we're relearning about learning. Yay. Yeah. Yeah. You know, I know that you and I are

1:32.8

both big believers and just being a lifelong learner and that learning isn't confined to the classroom,

1:38.1

but it is interesting how in our age, you know, once we become parents, but even just as an adult, when we get into work,

1:45.7

it's easy to just stop engaging in that. Like, you know, comparing college to now, it's just

1:51.8

so easy to go on autopilot and not make that a thing. You almost have to be intentional about learning.

1:56.4

You do. And I'm curious because I know for me, I too thought that you just stopped learning once you

2:03.6

graduated. How did that shift for you? Like how did you just naturally decide, oh, I want to know more?

2:09.2

Are you just naturally curious? Well, I think what happened for me post college, I was a nerd

2:16.1

and I loved school. Like school to me was fun and I almost didn't know what to do
