Importance of the history of the passion.

Furthermore, the pastor should not omit the historical part of this

article, which has been so carefully set forth by the holy evangelists, so that the faithful may be

acquainted with at least the principal points of this mystery, that is to say, such as seem more

necessary to confirm the truth of our faith. For it is on this article, as on their foundation, that the Christian faith and religion rest.
