On Saturday night, several players from the Tampa Bay Rays baseball team opted out of wearing

rainbow logos for Pride Night. Pitcher Jason Adam, who represented the other players to reporters,

said that players wanted everyone to feel welcome and love to games, but, quote,

we don't want to encourage lifestyle if we believe in Jesus, who's encouraged us to live a lifestyle,

that would abstain from that behavior, just like Jesus encourages me as a heterosexual male

to abstain from sex outside the confines of marriage.

While Adam's clarity and his and his teammates' courage, despite the furnace of public outrage,

reminds me of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abendigo.

And they're following the example of U.S. women's soccer player Janeleen Daniels,

who refused to wear a pride jersey back in 2017.

She also was castigated for her stand.

According to Tampa Bay Ray's manager Kevin Cash, instead of causing dissension,

the opting out has, quote, created a lot of conversation and valuing different perspectives

inside the clubhouse.

In other words, opting out created real diversity and inclusion.

They should be proud of that.
