While we're working on new episodes of the show, here's something I've been

ruminating about. Now, the topic that really interests me is black women. I wanted to talk

about black women. I think I can empathize with black women, their unique struggles and the

history of that struggle. However, I feel like despite my internal feelings about women and my knowledge about the

history and what I think is my familiarity with women, there is an element of this that I'm

concerned about. And that is whether or not I can speak on the topic of women about women

with any authority.

I mean, I guess my question is, you know, who can speak for women?

And so what do you think, Tiffany? Can I speak for women?

Well, I think the first thing is an important distinction that you just made.

Speaking about women and speaking for women are two totally different things.

You can speak about women, but you can't speak for women.

Speaking for is taking on the persona as if you know what women go through. You can have some empathy. You can have a emotional response

to the knowledge. You can have this sense of, wow, that's overwhelming, that type of thing, but you can't speak as if you know.

Yeah, and that's part of what my problem was thinking about it is I am so interested in this topic.
