Hello there I'm Chuck Tonna. We just wrapped up producing today's broadcast. My guests today were Dr. Anthony Fauci.

Dr. Seth Berkeley, he's the CEO of a global vaccine alliance. It's called Gavi, but it's a part of the bigger effort.

Covax, they're the folks that are trying to vaccinate the rest of the world.

And they joined our special round table that focused on the challenges of reopening after COVID, both home and abroad.

Well, here are the quick takeaways I had from this broadcast, obviously with Dr. Fauci. We went extensively into the fact that number one,

there is not a death taking place now from COVID that isn't preventable. You know, basically it was 99 point something percent he said

that deaths are preventable if you get vaccinated and every one of these deaths, it appears to be unvaccinated people that are dying.

Yet nearly 10,000 people in June died needlessly, needlessly in this country. We have the vaccines, we have the technology,

we just have allowed our political divide to essentially unfortunately now cost lives. So we focused on that, we focused on this Delta variant.

He answered some questions that I've had about you, if you don't like the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, how safe is it to go get the Pfizer on top of it?

We dealt with the Delta variant, and a vaccinated person spread basically become an asymptomatic spreader.

Would you wear a mask if you were in a place that is a low vaccinated part of this country?

So I know a lot of you have those questions. Good news is Dr. Fauci provided quite a few of those answers with Dr. Berkeley.

And the effort to vaccinate the world, look, we need 8 billion, we got to vaccinate 8 billion people.

And as he said, that doesn't mean 8 billion doses, it would actually mean 16 billion doses. He said most of the vaccines, they're gathering are the two dose vaccines.

What was interesting to me is that so far this international effort is not using the Chinese or the Russian vaccine.

And there have been some concerns particularly with the Chinese vaccine, it is simply not as effective as the ones that were developed with the new technology Pfizer and Moderna in particular.

But they are using AstraZeneca and some others. So that was a bit of an education.

And then we had a terrific panel, Audi Cornish from MPR, Kate Snow, my colleague here at NBC News, who focuses a lot on our mental health crisis in this country.

And Adam Grant, sort of a professional work psychologist of sorts.

And the three of them really sort of gave some terrific perspective of, you know, we're not going back to normal.

But what is it that we're headed toward? And you know what? At the end of the day, we did find some signs of hope.
