Summary

The rate of new coronavirus cases are up in 23 states. The states leading the charts include some of the largest: California, Texas, Florida and Arizona.  President Trump is refusing to answer the question on whether he asked for coronavirus testing to be slowed down, after saying it at a Saturday rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was asked during an interview with E.W. Scripps News Monday. The White House insisted the president was speaking "in jest" when he made the comment "slow the testing down."  The White House is also defending Trump's use of the racial slur "Kung Flu" to describe the Coronavirus. During a press conference Monday, the White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said, Trump was only pointing to the origin of the disease, China.  The United States has now surpassed 120,000 confirmed Coronavirus deaths with almost 2.3 million confirmed cases.  New York City and Washington D.C. have entered phase two of reopening cities with restaurants and retail shops. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said, the state went from the highest transmission rate in the United States to the lowest.  In Florida, the State's Health Department confirmed on Monday there are now more than 100,000 coronavirus cases. Now, Miami officials are requiring residents to wear a mask when out in public.  To learn more about how CNN protects listener privacy, visit cnn.com/privacy Learn more about your ad choices.
