While most folks look at the Krenshaw neighborhood where he grew up and only see gangs, bullets, and despair, Nipsi saw potential.

He saw hope.

Nipsi represented so much to the community. He was really thought of as this person who did not take his money and run.

I remember after he passed away, I was talking to folks in the neighborhood where he grew up.

Everyone said some version of the same thing, which was that he had this huge success, obviously with his career. He stayed in the community. He kept his money here. He invested in the community.
