This is Fresh Air. I'm Tanya Mosley, and my guest today is Rafael Sadiq, a Grammy-winning and Oscar-nominated singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer.

He just announced an extended national tour of his one-man show, no bandwidth, one-man, one-night, three decades of hits.

It started at the Apollo Theater in Harlem with sold out performances in Los Angeles and Oakland,

and now extends through the fall.

With nothing more than a mic, a few instruments, and his stories,

Sadiq instructed that everyone in the audience locked their phones away

as he revisited the highlights, heartbreaks, and hits that have shaped his music career.

From his early days with Tony, Tony Tony Tony to his work with Lucy Pearl and through solo albums like Instant Vintage and
