Summary

Have you ever been unsure about something and decided to just follow your instincts? Rob is here to tell you why you shouldn't do this and what you can do instead. Rob discusses how following your intuition is sometimes lazy, how your gut feelings toward people differ from your gut feelings in business and why only after decades of experience in an industry can you safely trust your gut.   KEY TAKEAWAYS The saying ‘go with your intuition’ is lazy. The people that follow this rule are missing out on research, due diligence, and are often using it as excuse for rushing things and not being thorough. There is a slight difference when trusting your intuition with people and when trusting them in business.   When it comes to people, some people trust people too easily and so therefore their intuition is wrong and other people do not trust people enough and so their intuition is wrong again. Our intuition is also our bias which is a reflection of our environment, upbringing and previous experiences.   If your intuition with people has proven you wrong in the past, should you listen to it when it comes to business? Probably not. You should speak to others and do some research on current business trends. Try to figure out if this is the right business model for your skills and talents.   Reading people is different from reading business models and if you get a funny feeling that you cannot put your finger on with someone, then you should still think about that. However, you shouldn’t just dismiss it, go and do the research and you may find you are wrong.   You can only really trust your intuition when you have got decades of experience in the field. Instinctive feelings are made up from all of your experiences which lie in your brain and constantly feed you quick information. However, if you have just gone into the business your instinct may be wrong since you have no previous experience of the industry.   BEST MOMENTS “I want a mentor that when I am doing something stupid will flipping well tell me and not sugar coat it.” “It gives us a cognitive clouding.” “Have you ever said to yourself ‘I am going with my gut’? When in reality, you just didn’t do research.”   [Business, mindset, entrepreneur, disruptors] VALUABLE RESOURCES https://robmoore.com/ bit.ly/Robsupporter   https://robmoore.com/podbooks  rob.team ABOUT THE HOST Rob Moore is an author of 9 business books, 5 UK bestsellers, holds 3 world records for public speaking, entrepreneur, property investor, and property educator.
