Hi there again. Welcome to a brand new edition of RICO.

The New York Mets have many holes to fill during this offseason.

But the area that features the most questions, the most possibilities, is starting pitching.

And it's funny, you go back a year, a year ago, as we sat here and we did RICO's,

and we talked about the offseason, and we talked about which pitchers they needed to add.

We kind of knew that this offseason, the one a year later, the one we're sitting at right now,

was going to be such a pivotal one because last year, the Mets put together a very transition rotation.

And the hope that we had was that, A, they would hit on some of those short-term deals.

They certainly did. But then B also develop enough young arms that when we had was that, A, they would hit on some of those short-term deals. They certainly did.

But then B, also develop enough young arms that when we had this discussion that we're

about to have deep diving into the starting pitching free agency, they would have a couple of guys

that you would kind of put in the corner and say, hey, they're in the rotation. We feel good

about them. And as we sit here and we take a look at

the free agent market, which is what this episode is dedicated doing, I think most of us feel

very comfortable that the Mets have two guys locked into rotation spots in 2025. And there was

some uncertainty about that if we did this podcast a year ago trying to project ahead. I think

the only guy that we

had any level of confidence in was Cote Isanga just based on his contract. We needed one or

two guys to step up and demand, hey, I'm going to be in the rotation next year based on my

performance. I think we got that with one guy this past year in David Peterson.
