Summary

Some teams start well, and others start badly; but few start completely at odds with where they will end up. Sam Tighe (@brsamtighe) and Dean Jones (@deanjonesbr) join host Jack Collins (@jjwc) to take a look at three teams who are over-performing in their respective leagues this season, and three teams who are well below where we expect them to finish. Hot Takes this week involve a chat about how Maurizio Sarri's Juventus are already showing signs they might become the best ever version of Sarriball after their win over Conte's Inter in the Derby d'Italia (05:20), a prediction that Chelsea will become the lifeblood of the England squad by World Cup 2020 (09:10); and a look at Manchester City's loss to Wolves at the weekend (13:54). This week's Melon of the Week is given to a striker who missed an absolute sitter when his team needed him most to score... (19:08) Roulette asks which is the best stadium food we've had (47:56); whether Barcelona should retire the No.10 shirt when Leo Messi retires (49:37) and which Premier League club the Rank Squad think each other best represent (52:08); before Sam rounds things off by ranking the best things about building a fort to watch football in, in this week's nonsense rankings (53:31). Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to be our football ranks. It is the most wonderful time of the year. Oh yes, it's an international break. And you know how special these are to me. And I don't want to hear any more whining about how they're boring. So instead of a poem this week, I'm going to lay out for you some of the narratives that you need to be keeping your eye on to keep yourselves well entertained. Let's start with the obvious. Today, Germany

0:42.2

play Argentina in a repeat of the 2014 World Cup final. Argentina looked like they're finally

0:47.9

starting to find some cohesion in their attacking rinks, so it's basically worth watching

0:50.9

just to see how they fit messy, Aguero, DeBala, Laetara Martinez, and the rest into this side.

0:57.1

Germany is still a massive work in progress. Lots to be excited. I know Sam is a huge fan of Leipzig's fullback combination, the Rumblers.

1:04.5

Lucas Gloucesterman and Marcel Haustenberg. But moving on from that, Brazil play friendlies against two powerhouses of Africa, Senegal and Nigeria,

1:12.3

the young fiery Super Eagles squad playing against the Selaqal in particular interest and should be a

1:17.0

festival of attacking intent. In European qualifying, anything in Group E should be on your agenda.

1:23.4

The top three, Croatia, Slovakia and Hungary, are all separated by a single point,

1:27.8

with Wales three points behind that and with a game in hand.

1:31.1

Wales play Slovakia and Croatia play Hungary on the same night before Wales and Croatia meet each other three days later.

1:37.4

So it's very much all on the line in Group E.

1:40.6

Kosovo played Montenegro in an all-balkan affair that should provide a fair bit of spice.

1:45.0

We talk about how good Kosovo were against England going forward, if less so, at the back.

1:50.3

And they're both chasing England and the Czech Republic who play each other, which makes life more exciting.

1:54.8

And finally, Portugal will play Ukraine late on in the top of the table clashing group B.

1:58.4

They're both unbeaten, but a win for Ukraine will see them top the group ahead of the reigning European and Nations League champions. A couple more

2:05.2

random ones to finish. South Korea playing North Korea in Asian qualifying, which I imagine

2:10.7

will be chokovok full of drama. So keep an eye on that. I'm personally very excited for

2:15.2

Tajikistan to play Japan, which is their top of the table clash

2:18.6

in one of the groups there. As a final aside, the last game of the window is Algeria versus

2:23.2

Colombia, which is basically two of the world's most fun attacking sides, playing each other
