Well, we've got baseball and hockey about to start up in another month or so.

Probably a good time for me to try to squeeze in some vacation time before the sports schedule gets real busy again.

For my money, there's no better place to go for a quick getaway than Lake of the Ozarks.

It is so relaxing down there, especially on a holiday weekend when there's only a couple thousand boats on top of each other.

But at least the boaters and the jet ski drivers remain sober at all times and almost never have any accidents that could have been avoided.

I really like it when somebody puts a cigarette boat, designed for racing on an ocean right there in the middle of the lake.

You can hear it all the way to Sykeston, and on a clear day you can see them down in Joplin when they go airborne.

Hey, those party boats are fun, and some of the songs and the dance moves from the 90s are just now reaching that area.

There's just so much to do at the lake, like tubing, that's always a good time.

But if I'm a little low on cash and can't afford to rent the boat or pay the bill at the urgent care center,

I can be happy to just stand in the water and do some noodling.

Drag a big old nasty catfish out of the shallow water. There's absolutely nothing about this that screams Hoosier.
