Florida's legislative session off to a controversial start.

Moments before the governor's big state of the state address, Republican lawmakers dropped a new abortion bill. I mean, think I think those exceptions are sensible and like I said we welcome pro-life

legislation. Shrinking Florida's current 15-week abortion ban to six weeks,

plus adding exceptions for rape and incest, something Senate President Kathleen Pasadomo made a priority since day one.

I support the bill. My biggest concern has always been the exception

for rape and incest. Despite the addition of exceptions for rape and incest up to 15 weeks into

pregnancy, Democrats are still dissatisfied. I believe that that exemption is nothing more than a thinly

veiled attempt at Republicans to feel better about themselves

at night. Let me be clear as a survivor of sexual assault what that exemption really is.
