This morning opening statements are set to begin in the trial of Derek Chauvin,

a former Minneapolis police officer who's pleaded not guilty to charges of second-degree murder and manslaughter,

plus a recently added charge of third-degree murder.

Prosecutors say he killed Floyd last May by kneeling on his neck for about nine minutes.
