Criminal records for marijuana possession have led to needless barriers to employment,

to housing, educational opportunities.

And with that, the president moved to clear some 6,500 federal convictions for pot possession,

plus thousands more in the District of Columbia,

though it won't affect the millions more with state-level convictions.

And the administration does say there are no individuals currently in federal prison solely

for simple possession of marijuana.

He also ordered an expedited review of how marijuana is classified.
