I defend critical race theory, defend it to the nth degree.

Why? Because I believe in freedom of thinking, I believe in freedom of teaching, I believe in freedom of

in freedom of listening and I want a critical race theory to be available

to people even though in certain dimensions I disagree with it very strongly.

But we need to defend intellectual pluralism,

and I think some people in critical race theory have not been

as attentive to the importance of the defense of intellectual pluralism as they ought to have been.

And now the good fight with Yasha Monk. Two weeks ago I shared my thoughts about the upcoming elections in Hungary and in France.

I said that there was bad news from Hungary because it increasingly looked as for Victor Arban would manage to be reelected. This is indeed what came to pass. This was not a fully

free and fair election. Orban has now amassed so much power and so much influence that the opposition could not compete on an even playing field.

It had a lot less money at its disposal,

it was restrained from advertising in the same ways the government could.

It faced a very hostile media landscape which has been reshaped by Auburn over the last years in part through corruption and the use of state funds for advertising.

And yet the victory was clearer and more crushing

than could have been feared,
