| 0:18.0 | As the child of first generation Muslim immigrants, Rama Yusef grew up with a sense of practicality |
| 0:24.4 | about his future. He was drawn to comedy and performing, but he saw no one who |
| 0:28.6 | looked like him on television. Add to that the fact that acting isn't exactly a |
| 0:32.4 | pragmatic career path in the first place. |
| 0:35.0 | As he tells it, I had parents who gave up everything to move to America, |
| 0:39.0 | and I'm supposed to call them and say, |
| 0:41.0 | hey, can you pay a bunch of money for me to study the Meisner technique? |
| 0:44.0 | I didn't have the balls to ask that question. |
| 0:46.0 | While in college, Rami spent his free time developing his stand-up and sketch comedy skills at UCB |
| 0:52.0 | while at the same time studying political science and economics. |
| 0:56.3 | He auditioned for a small role in the Nick at Night Series, See Dad Run, and he got the part, |
| 1:01.6 | and so he decided to drop out of college and moved to Los Angeles. |
| 1:04.6 | That gig lasted for three seasons and then Rami got stuck in acting purgatory. |
| 1:09.8 | According to audition feedback, he wasn't good looking enough to be the lead, he wasn't nerdy enough to play the nerd, and he wasn't ethnic enough to play the ethnic guy. |
| 1:18.5 | That's when Rami realized, you never know where people are going to put you. |

| 1:24.0 | where you want to be. So Rami took charge of his own destiny. He had writing skills, plenty of |
