Summary

Host Ian Hartitz breaks down the Rams' Thursday night victory over the Patriots and goes over some of the key injuries to monitor ahead of Sunday. It was Cam Akers RB1 szn all Thursday night, although at some point the Rams are going to need Jared Goff to play better than he has in recent weeks. The good news is Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp's relatively underwhelming performances shouldn't be too big of an issue moving forward; each remains an upside WR2 thanks to their copious volume. Cam Newton and the Patriots' passing game bottomed out, while the run game didn't show much reason for optimism either. Ian finishes things off with injury notes on Kenyan Drake, Todd Gurley, Christian McCaffrey, Josh Jacobs, Irv Smith, Deebo Samuel and much more.

I'm welcome to PFF Fancy Football Podcast. I'm a host, Ian Harrison tonight. We're going

0:19.8

to break down Los Angeles Rams 24 or 3 victory over New England Patriots and go over some

0:23.5

key injuries to watch ahead of Sunday. So happy fantasy playouts everybody. We have

0:27.8

made it here long track, but not over yet. Gotta try to bring home that championship gold. But first

0:33.1

we need to break down what just happened here on Thursday night. Rams were pretty dominant in

0:36.9

this one. I mean, they went right down the field on the first drive of the game and that pretty much

0:40.3

set the tone for the rest of the game because it was just the cam makers show like, okay, they got

0:44.5

some help. Came through a pick six on a screen that, you know, at first glance looked like he

0:48.5

just overthrew it, but second glance, he saw here in Donald actually did a pretty good job holding

0:52.4

him down. You know, we're still going to go a bad pass there. Came hardly earned the benefit out of that

0:56.4

with much tonight, but just noting that you know, Aaron Donald the freaking amazing Aaron Donald,

1:00.8

the best defensive player and the league certainly had something to do with that. Patriots, yeah,

1:05.3

they just couldn't really get anything going. They were able to move the ball down inside the five

1:09.2

yards line, but Cam got stuffed on back to back. QB keepers. They also had a chance out of short field

1:13.9

after they were able to intercept. Jericho, off on just an awful throw behind Robert Woods. They

1:18.7

hit him in the hands, but just put it on him, bro. He's open. Yeah, so I mean, they had some

1:22.9

opportunities in the first half to keep it closed, but just couldn't do so and then down multiple

1:26.8

scores. In the second half, I mean, it was 24 to three about a 10 minutes and the third quarter,

1:31.9

things just never really turned around for him. So Cam Newton, you know, was pretty much

1:35.6

to scapegoat for the performance and deservedly so. I mean, nine for 16, 119 yards, no touch

1:40.2

sounds at aforementioned pick on the screen and force access. Pretty freaking far from the best

1:45.5

performance we've seen from Cam Newton this year. Also seven carries just 16 Russian yards. So look,
