There are few things left in the country that arrived the same way every year.

Quietly, faith faithfully like an

old friend who never needs to knock today it's baseball not just a game but a ritual a slow deliberate

reminder that time doesn't rush it unfolds long before the lights come on before the first pitch cracks the

air there's a feeling. Familiar hum,

grass cut just right, the chalk lines drawn like they always have been, generations before us

sat in those same seats, held the same hope, argued the same calls, and every year we come back.

Back to a game that refuses to hurry. In a world that sprints, baseball waits. It

breathes. It lingers just long enough for a father to explain a double play to his son. For a kid to

believe, just for a moment, that this could be the year. Because opening day doesn't belong to the

standings. It belongs to possibility.

It belongs to the rookie no one's heard of yet.

The veteran, with one more run left in him.

The fan who always says, this is it.

This is our year.

Knowing full well that he said it last year too.

And still, they mean it.

That's the magic of Major League Baseball. It doesn't ask you to forget, and ask you to believe again anyway.

So today, we rise with the sun a little earlier.

We checked the lineup like it matters more than it should.
