Hello and welcome to the latest Rambl meets. I'm Andy Brassel and this one was a great pleasure for me

because it was the German author and journalist Uli Hesse, who I sat down with at the end of a long

and very enjoyable football weekend in Northern Germany for which he was our guide.

Uli, having written a ton of books most notably tour on the history of German football. He's written

books on Bayern, Borussia Dortmund, his club as well. Now works at Elfreinder, the excellent German

football magazine. He took us around and showed us what was what from Dusseldorf to Bokham and

he very kindly made some time for us at the end of weekend. We didn't really have anywhere to do it.

So we just sat down in a quietish corner of a restaurant which despite it being Sunday night and

selling Austrian schnitzel was playing loads of banging music as I'm sure you'll be aware of.

Uli's bag, Uli actually started out as a music journalist and has got loads of rich musical stories

We started this weekend talking about the great musical traditions of Dusseldorf where we currently

Yeah in a way well for a certain standard music of course. I grew up with guitar bands and punk

bands and everything so yeah a craft work. I mean funnily enough I really didn't really appreciate
