Dr. Akutsugud, sports agent and sports lawyer.

0:08.8

Okay, what is the most popular misconception that football fans have about a football agent?

0:14.8

I mean, that's what is in the news, I would say, what they read about agents and

0:20.4

generally there is a bad image regarding agents because they get so much money from the clubs.

0:26.7

That's what they think and that they're greedy. And I wouldn't say it's the agents which should

0:32.8

be blamed for everything. I'm saying like in every profession, they're good ones and bad ones.

0:37.6

Yeah. They're good agents, bad agents like good lawyers, bad lawyers. And the same as with the

0:42.3

agents is nothing different. But it's obviously it's easy to blame the agents because the agents don't

0:49.0

have like a kind of a community that can back them and help them in the media and everywhere else.

0:55.5

So they just literally more alone by themselves. And for the clubs, it's easier to blame someone and

1:00.0

it's the agents when they pay a lot of money. They don't have to pay sometimes that much money,

1:03.6

especially on the club site. That people don't know that a lot of agents act on behalf of the clubs.

1:09.5

Yeah, I just give you an example. I'm going to make a deal. I'm representing a player,

1:12.9

suddenly from the other side, there are two agents coming up and saying we are representing

1:16.3

that club. And I'm saying why that club needs now two other agents involved to pay agency fee.

1:22.1

If I'm the agent of the player and they just have to pay me. So it's suddenly they're paying three

1:26.8

agents and it's a lot of money. And then in the end, if the club's paying so much money to

1:30.2

agents, they say, oh, hey, the agents are the bad guys. No, sometimes they put the agents into the game.

1:34.4

Yeah. Yeah. But do you think that so in that in that particular example, in that case,

1:38.9

do you think that although we've seen an increase in regulation over the years,

1:42.9

do you think it still needs to be more closely regulated? Yeah. I mean, at the moment,

1:47.8

there's no really a regulation to become an agent. You have to pass a fee for a test.
