Alhamo Rilah Rabil Al-Ahmm. Al-Ahilah al-Ahi, was Sala-Wahla al-Lihy al-Ahi, was Sahiby Ajmāin. We resumed from where we left off and that is the Tefsear of Surit al-Fāfāhhar, and we had reached the very first verse in the Quran, which is

al-Himdu-I al-Amin.

And this verse is one of the most profound and one of the most succinct verses in the entire Quran.

It is a verse that, well if you were to think and think and think you could not have thought

of a better way to begin the final book of revelation.

And in order to fully appreciate the meaning of this verse,

we need to understand what exactly does Hamd mean.

All Hamd belongs to Allah, the Rabu al-A-da mean. What exactly does hamd mean?

And to fully understand hamd, we need to compare hamd with other similar Arabic words.

Allahaz al-Aazd,al could have said a shukru

or he could have said al-Mahul-Lah

but he said al-Ham-Dul-Lah.

And the word al-Ham-D is very different than shukur.

It is very different than Madah. There are other nuances. The word shukur, we all

understand even non- Arabs what shukur means. It means gratitude. It means thankfulness.

And no doubt a shukur is also for Allah. No doubt a shukur is also for Allah and

a law wants us to do shukur of him.
