| 0:00.0 | Hi everyone, Ronnie here. Welcome back to Clean with me. Today, I have a big day of cleaning ahead because I got a heads up that somebody might be coming by. So I want to do a little extra today. But before I do that, I wanted to pop on here and talk to you about the subject raising the standard. |
| 0:22.4 | Okay, and I mentioned that in the last podcast. |
| 0:25.4 | What I'm talking about by raising the standard is that we all have certain things |
| 0:31.6 | that are kind of non-negotiable to us that maybe, you know, we take pride in or that are important to us that we feel like |
| 0:40.9 | we have to do each day or just ongoing, on an ongoing basis. For example, my sister is very |
| 0:49.4 | organized when it comes to clothing. I'm not saying that's the only thing she's organized about. |
| 0:54.9 | I mean, her house looks great. |
| 0:57.0 | But something that's different about her, you know, in comparison to myself, |
| 1:03.2 | is that all of her kids' clothes are hanging up, perfectly organized. |
| 1:10.0 | Same with her clothing. You know know she just doesn't have a mountain |
| 1:13.7 | a clean laundry sitting you know in the corner of her room like some people might have so you know |
| 1:22.2 | and if you're listening to this example going well duh of course you have to keep your clothes hanging up. Of course |
| 1:29.5 | you fold them as soon as they come out of the dryer. Then that's an area in which you have a high |
| 1:35.1 | standard. Okay, so keep doing that. But if you want to become a better housekeeper and kind of |
| 1:42.4 | grow in your homemaking, you're going to want to |
| 1:44.8 | raise the standard in some other areas. And you can do that by adding in one thing at a time. |
| 1:52.0 | They say it takes about 21 days to form a habit. So another example is on a lot of cleaning blogs and whatnot that I've read, you know, you'll hear about things that, you know, reflect that person's priorities and they're usually, you know, great starting points. For example, you know, keeping a shiny sink means you can't have a sink full of dishes if you shine your |
| 2:21.2 | sink every day you're getting to the bottom of the pile every day or whatever that's one example |
| 2:25.3 | that I've heard about you know I definitely agree there not that a shiny sink per se is really going to make my day, but I get the concept and it can help some people. |
| 2:41.7 | And then another one is just, you know, first thing is to wash your dishes. |
| 2:46.4 | And I get that because that's often the most daunting job. |
| 2:52.6 | The way I've been trying to raise my standard in the way of laundry, you probably |
