In so many ways raising a teen son is really, really difficult and if you have a

teenage son who's struggling, please know we're here to help and offer some

hope. I'm John Fuller in the studio here with Dr. Danny

Werta. He leads our focus on the family parenting team. Danny you're a counselor.

So what are some of the more common challenges you're seeing with parents of teen boys who are coming to your office for help?

Anxiety and depression have definitely at the top.

Then pornography, anger issues, motivation issues,

technology and entertainment, school issues as well,

just trying to get through all the academic work. I'm kind of

overwhelmed because it all feels like some of that was a problem for me as a teen

but not these days. Things just seem so much more dramatic and intense.

They've intensified for sure. And suicide has become much more of a topic as well, conversation,

but also of concern for parents of teen boys and so yeah there are a lot of

things coming to parents right now but we want to help you in that journey and so

let's go ahead and hear from a dad named Jonathan McKee.

He is one of our hosts on the plugged in show, the podcast.

He contributes to the work here at Focus on the Family.

And he had some great insights about this topic of raising a teenage

boy. He shared those with Jim Daly and me.
