Segment number two, we'll take you inside the Raiders locker room, talk to a handful of players. But I think the linebackers were the ones that really stood out to me the most. Devin White, who you heard a little bit from on Monday's show.

I mean, he's fantastic.

1:20.6

He's been one of those guys that has been fun to talk with ever since he's been a member of

1:24.4

the Raiders, and a guy that's been there done that, been in the league for multiple years, a guy that's won a Super Bowl, won a couple Super Bowls, and also been on really bad teams. So kind of seeing the good and the bad and has that leadership that he can provide, help provide for this Raiders team. So we'll let you hear from him coming up in segment number two. Here is segment number one, news and notes of the day. We'll really just talk about the victory that the Raiders had, what it meant. And look at the quarterback position and how Gino Smith can continue to improve. We'll jump into that after I tell you about the title sponsor of the show, which is Fan Duel. Right now, new customers can bet just $5. And if your bet wins, you'll get $300 in bonus bets to use across the app. So we know what it is. The Raiders get the 20 to 10 victory over Tennessee. They're now 2 and 4 on the season, and they've got to get ready to turn the page and head to Kansas City for week seven action before they go into their by week. They did well defensively. Offense was on the struggle bus for one reason of the other, right? I know Ashton Genti did everything he could. He had 23 carries and a couple catches as well. So that was good. You can see the way that they're trying to use him. You're seeing that they're getting him out on the outside a little bit more, which is smart. I would like to see him get more outside runs, and I'd like to see Gino Smith be

2:35.0

under center more. I think it makes Ashton Genti and his effectiveness that much better. But we do

2:40.0

need to focus in on Gino Smith. He's a guy that leads the league in interceptions. He now has 10

2:45.2

after another interception, a illivized pass on Sunday against Tennessee, one that he just can't

2:50.2

throw.

3:24.4

You just got to be smarter with the ball. For the most part, he was smart with the ball all game long. He didn't try to stretch the field. He didn't try to get greedy. He basically took what was right there. Every pass was short. All his completions were short. Only one of them went for more than 10 yards, and that was late in the game. He for 23 174 yards had a touchdown to michael mayor which was good you know it was on a play where he was surveying the field didn't really know who was going to hit and then all of a sudden boom you saw him hit big mike it was great to see michael mayor back in action he's easily a guy that when we handed out game balls on monday you could have handed a game ball to him too. See, Michael Mayer back, especially with Brock Bowers out, was a big addition, but also Gino had that interception that we mentioned. Right now on the season, right? Gino Smith was the guy that the Raiders went out there and made the move for. Gino Smith is the guy that they identified as he's going to be their quarterback. They're not going to go into the draft and get a guy early on, right, and have the pressure of starting him right away or hearing that they got to get him in the game sooner rather than later. They didn't identify this as a strong quarterback class. So they decided after the move for Matt Stafford didn't work out, they decided to go, all right, we're going to go with Geno Smith, who Pete Carroll's very familiar with. So far through six games, he has 1,350 yards, seven touchdowns to 10 interceptions. That's not going to cut it, right? His QBR is 38.2, which is good for 28. Well, there's only 32 teams in the league. So Gino's 28th right now, and I know that there's been more than 28 starting quarterbacks, more than 32 starting quarterbacks, as you've seen backup start as well, but that's just not good, especially the touchdowns, the interceptions ratio. We talked about it all offseason long, what Gino had to do as opposed to what he did last year in Seattle, where a lot of people said, oh, he just tried to force the ball because he felt like all the weight on the team was all on him, right? He didn't have the offensive line that protect him. He was trying to do too much. He was trying to force it in the red zone. And so we all said to a person, you know, the 15 touchdowns and 10 interceptions is not going to cut it for this Raiders team. They're going to need him to be closer to 30 touchdown passes and around 10 interceptions. Well, clearly he's on pace to have a lot more than 10 interceptions if he's already at 10 through six games. That's not going to cut it. He's going to have to figure things out. If he has to have a couple games like he had on Sunday where he's not pushing the ball down the field, he's trying to take the safe plays, that's fine. But he's got to just be smart and he's got to understand what he's doing. And he's got to stop diagnosing and telegraphing exactly what he's going to do. And look, I've never been some guy that claims to be some film breakdown guy. I'm not the guy that's sitting there, you know, diagnosing every single play and, you know, drawing it up on the whiteboard, what just happened and breaking on down. There's guys out there that do that, and they do a fantastic job. I'm not that guy. But if I identify with the naked eye what Gino's doing wrong when you know when the ball is being delivered. Whenever Gino is very, you know, as a matter of fact, where he's going to go with the ball, it comes out smooth, it comes out quick, and it goes to where it needs to go, and usually it's on point. Because Gino is an accurate quarterback. I don't want to take that from him. But when he has to survey, when the first read is not there, when the second read is not there, and he has to survey the field a little bit, all of a sudden he rocks back on his back foot. Every time he rocks back and then boom, almost like he's a pitcher, right? And Major League Baseball postseason is going on right now. So, you know, it's a big time pitcher, you know, is in my head right now. That's what I'm thinking of as we see postseason action going on. But that's what it looks like. It almost looks like, like I said, he rocks back and then boom, fires that thing in there. The minute that he rocks back on that back foot, D.Bs, linebackers, whatever the case may be, they break. They break because they know exactly where the ball's going. Early, it was going to Jacoby Myers. Now it's just, you know, it was going to Dante Thornton later. And obviously, Dante only had a couple snaps offensively for the Raiders on Sunday. Didn't really see him in there. And Pete Carroll on Monday said that it just didn't go his way. It didn't go in that favor. It's not like they benched them,

6:45.6

but call it what you want to call it. He only had a couple snaps. Jack Besh had a lot more snaps out there. His snap number, you've seen it go up and up, even though he didn't have any catches on Sunday. He did have a target, but he's very physical when it comes to the blocking game. there's a lot that Jack Bess can do that you'll like, but they've still got to continue to

7:02.9

develop those young quarterbacks. But Gino's just got to be better. I don't know what he's trying to prove right now. And I say that respectfully. I'm not saying that he's out there trying to prove a point, but it just seems like ever since he's had a little bit of struggles when it comes to the turnovers, like he tries to make that next pass, the one that makes up for all the turnovers. And there's no way you can do that. You just are at where you're at. You're at 10 interceptions. You're leading the league. That's not good enough. You've just got to go out there and play your game, but you can't think about it and try to get it all back on one play. Just like the Raiders can't overcome the fact that they're two and four,
