| 1:44.4 | They have the best record in the National Football League. |
| 1:46.8 | Two other teams are tied at 7 and 2. 2. They lead the AFC West and we know the Raiders are the bottom feeders right now in the AFC West at 2 and 6. But it's Thursday night football. Crazy things happen and it's a division rival game. So anything could happen. So let's go ahead and jump into the biggest storylines between the Broncos and the Raiders, part one of the crossover edition on today's Lockdown Raiders podcast. Q, great to see you, my man. I always love being able to do these crossover shows. We get a chance to chop it up here as both of our teams are going to face off here on Thursday night football. |
| 2:18.9 | Let's get into the biggest story here. |
| 2:21.3 | What is the biggest story for your Las Vegas Raiders coming into this AFCS matchup in primetime action on Thursday night? |
| 2:28.3 | Well, Cody, it's always great to be a part or part of the show with you and talking little Raiders and Broncos. |
| 2:33.6 | But man, it's been a wild, you know, short week for the Raiders. I mean, they have this tough loss at home |
| 2:38.4 | against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Then boom, all of a sudden, they turn around. They trade |
| 2:42.1 | Jacoby Myers to those Jacksonville Jaguars. And oh, by the way, they're still preparing for a game |
| 2:46.2 | coming up on Thursday. So, I mean, the NFL doesn't slow down. And when you're playing on a Thursday night, it comes even quicker. And so that's what the Raiders challenge is, is how do they, you know, move on from one of their better wide receivers and Jacoby Myers and who's going to step up and really fill that void. So that's really the storyline that I'm looking at, right? Can they put that loss to the Jaguars behind them quickly because they have to? And then all of a sudden have some other guys step up into that role. So I'm looking at a guy like second round pick, Jack Bess, right out of TCU. What is he going to do? This is a guy that's got seven catches on the season, his rookie year. Dante Thornton Jr. out of Tennessee. He's only got five catches his rookie year and was a healthy scratch on Sunday against Jacksonville. So are one of these guys going to step up? Are they going to fill that void? Or is it going to be all the Brock Bowers show, maybe Michael Mayer and Trey Tucker? You know, how does Chip Kelly, how do the Raiders really compensate for a very good set of hands of Jacoby Myers? A really good route runner, a guy that just seems to find a way to get open and make himself available. How do they make up for his loss? To me, that's going to be the biggest storyline for this team going into this short week, this game on Thursday. Well, and that's what I was going to ask you about, too, because I've been following the conversation this week, especially after they traded away Jacobi Myers. But you guys just recently |
| 3:57.8 | brought in Tyler Lockett, as we know, Pete Carroll loves Tyler Lockett. I saw some conversation |
| 4:03.8 | that, okay, what does that mean for Jack Bash out of TCU in terms of his snap counts? And |
| 4:08.4 | what I think he didn't play any offensive snaps essentially against the Jaguars? Yeah, no offensive |
| 4:13.6 | snaps against Jacksonville and Dante Thornton Jr. was a healthy scratch. So what do you think that'll be this week? Do you think it'll be more Tyler Lockett? I mean, obviously, I know Trey Tucker's their speed guy. He's very fast. I know he was the, you know, from following your show in the offseason, I know he was the guy at training camp making the big plays downfield. And then, of course, there is the boogeyman of that offense, which we all know is Brock Bowers, who what a welcome addition back for him watching this past week over 12 catches, three tuddies. What, how do you think the Raiders come into this week trying to game plan against this ultra aggressive Broncos defense? Yeah, I think it's going to be more than, or it needs to be more than the Brock Bowers show, because I know the Denver Broncos have that really good defense, and I know they're going to key in on him knowing that, hey, that's Gino Smith's guy, right? And even in plays that happened against Jacksonville, I saw times where Gino was just looking at Brock only. And there was other guys that were open on the route, but he saw 89. And that's not a bad place to go. That's not a bad place to get comfortable. But these defensive players and defensive coordinators get paid too. And they're going to lock in on that and say, hey, just jump 89, right? Just make sure that you're right there, get ready to jump that route because Gino's going to go to him. So that's why I'm saying a guy like Jack Bess and Dante Thornton Jr. They're going to have to step up now. I mean, it's one thing to be a rookie and have a learning curve. Learning curve's gone when you trade your veteran wide receiver as far as I'm concerned. Now your learning curve is done. Now the team is looking at you saying, okay, rook, it's time to step up. So now everyone's going |
